“I Wonder”

I wonder as I sit in this cell in my own personal
How long will it last?  Another year, two or three!
I don’t know, but I try not to let it bother me
Somedays tend to be harder than others, which sometimes
Make me wonder, what my life would have
been like if I had a loving mother.
Now don’t get me wrong, I know that my life was
my own.  So at the end of the day she isn’t the blame nor
is any other.  Yet it still makes me wonder.
I wonder as I sit in this cell in my own personal
Damn, was I that bad that I had to be sentenced to
Death instead of having my life spared because of
my mental health?
I know that everybody has their ups and downs
and that I’m no better than any other.
I just wish that the judge and jury could’ve
opened their hearts and seen past my outer levels
and witness all of my inner struggles.
I wonder as I sit in this cell in my own
Personal hell. 
What would those same individuals say if
they could see me today.  A man who has grown
and matured in an unbelievable way.
It probably wouldn’t change a thing.  Because
hey they probably couldn’t see past my past.  But hey,
that’s okay, because it was what it was at the end of the day.
I wonder as I sit in this cell in my own personal hell.
What my future may hold, will it be life or death?
I don’t know myself.
Yet what I do know is that over the years I’ve
changed for the best even if I didn’t past society’s
so called test!
