Everywhere I look today people are using faster and easier ways to stay in touch which is not bad on the surface but our social skills with people are suffering! “I don’t know” turned into “IDK” which is now a confused faced emoji. Seriously? Texts and emails serve a purpose to save time and get a message somewhere fast. Now ask yourself, the feeling you get when you receive a letter, is it the same as an email? I don’t think so! I believe people enjoy handwritten letters but in this fast paced world, it’s not easy to find time to write. But that makes the letters mean even more! The benefits don’t stop at just receiving, but also in writing them slowing down to collect your thoughts and feelings on paper relieves stress. In sharing letters you create a stronger bond with someone new or help strengthen one you already have. The person you write can be anyone, about anything but one thing for sure, you will make their day! I’ve read recently that most people “See” happiness in their future. Why does it have to be in your future? Why not now? Grab a piece of happiness, write someone a letter today! Oct. 5th 2015 – I lost a pen pal today due to the massive delay in the prison mail system. Please Be Patient when writing people. I am bummed due to the loss and I’d like others to avoid the same feeling. Keep Lets Going! Paul McLaughlin
