    Default TDCJ Parole

Okay so R is non-stop about hunting and fishing when he gets out. I mean like every single letter, hementions it at least once. I am wondering since he is getting out on parole, is he going to be allowed to hunt with a firearm? I would think he wouldn't be able to. The TDCJ Parole handbook says no control, possession or general use of a firearm. If so, I would feel so bad being the one to tell him. He has his heart set on it when he gets out

People charged with felonies generally can't own a firearm. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't know this already. You won't be telling him something he doesn't already know. If his felony wasn't due to a violent crime he may be able to go to court and get permission. I'd look up the laws regarding that in the state he is in. I've read he may be able to go bow hunting. Also, his parole officer will be able to tell him if that would be a parole violation.

it was burglary of habitation. There were no weapons and or violence involved(it was an open garage), but knowing Texas, he won't be able to use a firearm I think. R doesn't always think of that stuff lol At least he can still fish

What do you think about him wanting to kill animals for fun? Just curious...

LOL, Why would you ask such a question? Millions of people kill animals for sport.

Don't really see anything wrong with the question?

Anyway.... Tell your R go go fishing. Less bloody, less hairy, and more cute little furry animals running around.

I am actually a vegetarian and I am fine with him hunting as R always eats what he kills. If he didn't....that would be a different story. He doesn't torture them. He goes in for the one kill shot so they won't suffer at all.

I'm about to ask some uncomfortable questions:

How long has R been in for?
He should know (as mount said) that he would not be legally allowed to own a firearm as a felon - if he feels it is OK to ignore that law, do you think he is a) ready to be paroled and stay out of trouble, b) going to decide to ignore any other laws?

Just throwing it out there for consideration.

No worries. Not uncomfortable at all :-)
R has been in since January of 2011. He was sentenced to 4 years, but is only serving half of the time in prison. He didn't specifically say that he was going to use a firearm to hunt. He could use a crossbow. I am going to bring it up in the next letter. If he keeps to his word about everything then he won't be the ignoring laws especially with his family around all the time. Also, I thiink he is ready to be out on parole. From what I have found out and what he has told me, he has grown up sooooooooo much. I won't give him the benefit of the doubt lol I am much too critical for that :P I am on my toes haha

    Cool

Not sure whether a crossbow counts as a firearm or a dangerous weapon though - he might not be allowed to own either!
