I order everything from amazon. It costs me $12 for 2 boxes of envelopes (one box of regular, another box of larger ones) and a ream of typing paper.

Just a word about envelopes ~ depending on the unit, inmates are usually required to have their name and TDCJ# on the envelope before they leave the mailroom. So if you're not using a service that prints this on the envelope for you, just be aware that 500 envelopes take quite a while for the inmate to name and number.

I was going to say the same thing. This issue always brings a smile to my face when I recall a thread on another forum where a wife spotted an offer on envelopes with a big name stationery company and had 500 envelopes sent to her man. He spent hours in the mail room writing his name, number and unit address on the top left of each envelope. Somehow the company duplicated her order and the following day another 500 arrived.

It was over $40 each but I think they are worth it. It felt weird to give them just paper and envelopes as presents, its like giving a kid clothes for his birthday. I also wanted to use the full shipping, you know get my money's worth. I used my email address with my real name in it, and I am sure they will notice. I also got them 3 magazine subscriptions from amazon.com for $5 each.

Oh yeah - I forgot about that. R doesn't have that problem since he gets package delivery to his door at the Polunsky Hilton.
