    Default Care packages

I know theres a post about this but I cant see it and well im too tired to look tonight.

Isnt it these care packages are just stuff from commissary? The reason I ask is K was talking about vitamins and he could do with some, he was sick recently and it went on for about a month and he thinks he isnt getting enough vitamins so anyway will vitamins be included in those care packages?
There would be no point in him buying them if I can get them and include them in the care package.

    Any ideas ladies?

They'll be the 100 most popular commissary items from the previous quarter plus some seasonal things. If all goes well then they'll add some "special" things to buy that aren't available through regular commissary.

And there will be no shipping costs since the orders will be filled directly from the unit commissary warehouse. What happens if they run out of an item I do not know. That's the million dollar question.

Any idea if this will be in addition to their monthly spending limits.

It'll be up to $50 every 3 months in addition to their monthly limit.

I wonder if the inmate picks the items or if the person ordering it does.

The person ordering. It'll be done over the Internet.

Really that is just stupid, but maybe there won't be any service charges.

I was thinking about this last night too. Knowing TDCJ, they wont actually get in extra stocks of anything, they will just start servicing the care package orders first and then the units will get whatever is left over. Except that you can bet a lot of people try to order a package straight away, and then the units will have nothing for the guys who still need commisarry. It's bad enough at the moment when they run out of things. Writing pens are like gold dust at Hubby's unit.

R rarely gets his full commissary order too. He always seems to get shorted typing paper (which is why he'll ask me to spend a whole $6 and get him a couple of reams) and chicken ramen. Looks like ol' TDCJ is going to have to up their yearly commissary item purchases in order for this to work properly.

Side note: When I was trying to see if they had more info on this package deal I stumbled upon some contracts they have for some of the commissary items. I learned that TDCJ gets about 4000 typewriters (that they purchase for $79 each, including a typing ribbon) a year and something like 340,000 cases of pickles.
