There is no official care package scheme for TDCJ inmates at the moment but you can send your pal a stationary package via Amazon or another approved vendor like Texas Prison Bookstore or Rosie's graphics.

A CARE package ... paper and envelopes, huh..I was more thinking about Earplugs or Chocolate or whatever...I guess the Carepackages are not to compare with what my Mom sents me from Germany, huh I guess I have never really thought about all the restrictions, since I'm new to this....
Well I guess I'll sent him paper and envelopes than for now. Can I sent him stamps too or does that go via Jaypay "sent money"?
Should I ask him if it is okay to sent him paper/envelopes/and stamps or should I just do it? I really do not want him to have expenses for the mail but yet, we do just get to know eachother, so should I leave it alone for now? Suggestions?

No, you cannot send him stamps, those must be bought from commisarry by the inmate. You can send home money via Jpay if you want.

He put up an advert asking for a penpal, so it would be safe to assume he has the means to correspond with you, including paper, envelopes and money for postage.

If you read the rest of this thread, you'll see that the official Care Package programme has been delayed by TDJ until later this year. Kinda have to remember that they are in prison in Texas....

Make sure that any paper that you order does not have staples attaching the pages to the cardboard on the back of the pad/tablet.

Also it must be plain white. No coloured paper in Texas any more.

No, you can't just send them chocolates. Would be nice but you can't. I would actually not send him anything until you get to know him better. As Sunray said, he put an ad up so he is willing to spend the money to correspond. Actually a couple of months into writing R I mentioned sending him stamps twice and he simply ignored the request. I am guessing that it's because he doesn't want me to do that. Unless he asks I am not going to bring it up again. It's not like I'm swimming in cash anyway so I'm fine if he buys his own postage!
