    Default Question About TDCJ JPay

Does Jpay notify the inmates when money is posted to their accounts? And if so,does it say who posted the money to their account? Thanks.

Jpay does not notify TDCJ inmates when they receive funds.

Sunray is right they dont inform them...the only way they find out is when they get their statement through....if your thinking of sending money then let your pp know yourself thats your best bet then he will know for sure it was from you.

TDCJ informs inmates somtimes when they have a deposit of funds on thier accounts, and many (but not all) TDCJ inmates get a monthly statement. But JPay does not inform any inmate.

Yes, that is correct. JPay don't inform the inmate that they have received funds...a jPay letter will do that though...I know they get a monthly statement listing all transactions and thus any amounts deposited and by whom.

I use JPAY all the time to a Michigan facility. A receipt is generated from JPAY, and then forwarded to the unit they are in... the CO's may not give them the receipt, but there is one generated. MY PP lets me know everytime she gets a JPAY receipt, and it does takes 48 hours for it to be processed. If I do it on Thursday, she gets it on Monday. If I do it on Wednesday, she gets it on Friday.... been doing this for many months now, and there has been a receipt everytime.

Maybe in Michigan, but we are talking about Texas. JPay has different agreements with each state DoC.

Im not doubting you, but this is from Jpay's Help section

Offenders are notified by the facility that you sent money through JPay. All other information regarding your JPay account is confidential.

Could it be that your guy just has a lazy facility that cant be bothered to notify him?

I had some real concerns with JPay before but today I got a phone call from a company representative of JPay and she carefully addressed all of my concerns and two of the issues regarding disclosure on their website were fixed and all of the fee information is readily available and there are no hidden fees like some other services. I must say that her phone call was refreshing and showed the integrity of this company and their concern for good customer service. But as with all service companies, you need to check exactly what you are getting so that you will know such things as whether or not an inmate can send email back. In some locations they can in others they cannot. But I will say that JPay is working to develop a system that will be acceptable to institutions so that more and more inmates will be able to use bi-directional email that will be a very good thing for almost everyone.
