Anyone have a PP In Texas McConnell Unit? What type of stationary can you send? Can you send cards? What are the Dos And Donts with letters and pictures?

I know someone here who does... hopefully she will come out sooner or later...

IM ALMOST 100% all facilities can recieve cards but just be careful what you send.. like no glitter or cards with glue or stickers... keep it simple...

Mine is not in TX... but what do you mean by DOES AND DONT OF letter and pics??

Each prison is different... I can send my guy any amount of pics, but I know that is not the same for all prisons... The BEST thing to do would be to ASK your pp all the questions and concerns... Thats what I did and he was able to tell me everything about his facility... makes it easy so Im not always wondering what I can and cant send .

I sent my PP an Xmas card covered in glitter and it was fine! Mind you he's not in TX, but it goes to show that every prison is diff....someone posted in a diff thread that they're PP can't receive cards at all...you'd be best to call and ask them directly.

The TDCJ mail rules are fairly simple and can be found on their web site.

You can call the mailroom and ask about specific items before you send them. If you send something that the inmate cannot have, the mailroom will issue a denial form and it is up to the inmate whether they destroy the item or mail it back to the sender at the inmate's expense (so you might want to discuss with your pal now how he might handle that in the future if it happens).

You can write on coloured stationary or postcards or cards of any size smaller than around 18 inches on its longest side (Coffield size rules - you may want to check that with McConnell). You can send any number of photos, there is no published limit. Inmates can receive stationary from approved vendors only, not from individuals, and it much be white writing paper and envelopes, no other colours. They can be sent greetings cards to use from vendors as well. You cannot sent postage stamps or writing instruments.

McConnell is pretty laid back about everything. I screwed up and sent him a laminated picture.. and he got it anyway. He told me they don't get upset about much there. I send cards for every Holiday.. pictures, internet printouts, newspaper clippings, pictures.. He gets it all fine.

Oh.. and you send him stationary.. it has to be white. You can use whatever you want though.

I Send my pp stationary in pink,and use hot pink permanent marker. It always takes. They told me you can use anything you want. They are very laid back in McConnell unit!
