To ask well, to answer rightly,
Are the marks of a wise man:
Men must speak of men's deeds,
What happens may not be hidden. ~ The Havamal
If the prison is on lockdown due to a violent situation where inmates and/or guards were injured or killed, there is very likely an investigation going on. If this is the case, then there is really nothing the prison staff can tell you other than, "We're still on lockdown." If they tell you anything more, they run the risk of compromising an investigation. They can't even tell you how long the lockdown will last, as that is up to the discretion of the warden.
Look, CO's are just like every other work population - some employees are going to be worse than others, but you can't tar everyone with the same brush based on hearsay.
Would you rather have the prison CO's spend time answering phones and dealing with questions which they can't give answers to for privacy or security reasons, or have those CO's handing out food trays and mail and trying to make sure inmates get out of their cells for a shower during the course of the lock down?
