Default Pfizer blocks drugs from use in capital punishment

US capital punishment in crisis as Pfizer blocks drugs from use in lethal injections

"Pfizer makes its products to enhance and save the lives of the patients we serve," the statement said. "Consistent with these values, Pfizer strongly objects to the use of its products as lethal injections for capital punishment." (The Telegraph)

    Way to go, Pfizer!

It has been getting harder & harder for prisons to use drugs to kill as other companies have also taken this stance. For example, Hospira—the only U.S. company approved to manufacture sodium thiopental, said it would no longer do so following pressure.
I know some states were accessing sodium thiopental via England & India, but it has been getting harder & harder to do so.
    Pressure it seems is working.

As long as the death penalty is constitutional they will find the drugs. The other options would be electrocution, hanging and firing squad. I would think lethal injection is the best of the four. Just because the drugs aren't available doesnt mean the death penalty will be abolished.

Many states have the DP, it is true the firing squad will be used if drugs are not available. If drugs are available the choice will be by LI or firing squad.

I know I'm ridiculously late for this, but I recently saw a documentary where due to the pharma companies blocking the uses of these drugs, inmates are suffering.

Basically, states with the death penalty are using pharmacists/herbalists to whip up a batch of medicine that can kill someone. The huge problem is that it's causing those sentenced to death a horrible lengthy death. The big debate is whether or not "the prisoners are aware of how long it's taking and are actually suffering" because I saw a case take around 6+ hours. No one seems to be investigating whether this is "humane" or not... as if killing someone is humane... It's incredibly sad.

True, in 2018 the DP will only get worse under Donald Trump.
    All options are wrong.

Respectfully, this is an ignorant statement. The death penalty is carried out by State systems, not the President. A very limited number of Federal executions take place, and are usually for very serious crimes like terrorism. If anything, blame the Governors of the States, not the President.

Respectfully, no this is not an ignorant statement.
The US of A is the only first Nation who has the
    DP.
The American President dumb guy(Donald Trump) should lead first
    but of course not...sad.
