I can't seem to find any info. anywhere on dealing with prison issues once they are home. Its hard talking to people out in the world because they don't have a clue as to what your talking about. Most of the prison related chat forums seem to be for people who still have a LO inside. Some people get real jealous when someone else's LO is home and theirs is not.

I know this isn't the same but there are courses that wives can take when their soldier husbands are coming home from deployment to help deal with the PTSD.

I have read quite a few things that liken returning from prison to be similar. Maybe you could look for things that are soldier based and apply them to your situation?

I am on PTO. Just kinda bored with it. Not a lot of conversations between members. Same with Jpay...its like oh, he's home now....okay....bye...good luck and all that. I don't worry about my Husband going back because that is not in my control. Its just a huge time of adjustment for the both of us....him even more so. I don't know what else I can do to help him. So for now I just listen to his stories about prison life.

Churches often have support groups for ex-offenders and their families, I know the Church of Christ in Mesquite does, and the Kairos Ministries do post-incarceration support as well. Might be worth looking in to.

You know Sunray, I totally forgot to tell you that every Parolee in Texas has to go to one AA meeting and one church for a year.

Is that once a week? what if they arent religious or alcoholic? Seems a bit over the top. I can see some type of support group but specifically those two?

Yep, once a week, every week. It does not matter if they have an alcohol or drug-related case or not. And it does not matter if religious or not or alcoholic or not. Someone at either place has to sign and date his paper and when he goes to Parole every month he has to bring it with him. The newest thing his Parole officer is raggin' at him about his his Employment Verification form. It is not a condition of his Parole to even have a job and she wants him to have this paper filled out every month by his employer....it all gets really tiring sometimes. 5 more months and no more AA/church for us!!! Always some kinda countdown

I know parolees who do not have to attend church. My friend's son is one of them, and he doesn't attend AA either. He was paroled 2 years ago. It might depend on the specific parole board that they come under and their individual circumstances.

Does anyone know how I can get a "Welcome Home" kit? I saw on here somewhere that WAP offers them....
