I was just wondering.. does anyone know how long it generally takes to receive a reply after sending a letter? I'm in Florida and I sent one to Texas and one to Ohio.

I'm in Va and I my pps are in Arizona and California. I got the first responses from them within 2 weeks.
It really depends!! Does your PP have paper, stamps, writing equipment? There may be a hold up with getting the mail in or out, or the prison could be on lock down. Most people suggest you wait 2-3 wks at least before really letting yourself think no mail is coming...it likely is on it's way! When I first wrote, I was living in the US and got a reply from Arkansas to NY within a week, but the mail was always quick from his particular unit. There's heaps of factors, so just give it time and once you're in a rhythm, you'll get a feel for when mail should bein your box![]()
Three weeks and still waiting for my first reply. Patiently (almost) awaiting. The issue with the first contact is that you have no idea if it's due to slow mail or just the inmate you wrote is not interested in you.

Mine took about 3 weeks from Texas to here but yes as Xtina said it all really depends. Circumstances beyond their control also can delay a letter.
Treat others as you would like to be treated
Update.
I was kinda complaining yesterday. But I got my first reply this morning. So I can tell from Illinois to France i had to wait three weeks. So far Here is how it worked.
I wrote through WAP email service on the 4th of July and my PP replies the 14 th of July and the letter has been sent on the 19th, I received it today the 26th.
I have to go now, I got someone to reply to....![]()
