Don’t Prove Them Right
The world seems to be watching,
Watching everything you do,
Pulling me into it too.
Now they watch me,
The world of my own,
Telling me what I should be,
Telling me how it all should go.
But I’m waiting,
Giving you a chance,
Seeing if all you say is true.
They doubt you,
All that you stand for,
Society molded them that way,
Creatures of judgmental habit
Don’t prove them right,
Surpass expectation,
Even when they scowl,
Whispering amongst themselves.
Know that you are all things good.
Even on the coldest and cruelest of nights.
Lift that head of yours,
Hold it high,
Walking out of that gate,
Put aside the bruises you let define you before,
Leaving them behind.
Take my hand,
And prove me right.
