Dreams,

I glide from one
Unto the next.
Rivers to ford.
Mountains to climb.
Tundra’s to cross.
A breeze blows listlessly
Caressing my face
In the way that only nature can.
Lightning flashes,
And there is a distant clap of
Thunder.
A storm approaches.
It has not been long
Since the last.
Tears from heaven
Cleanse my soul
As I forge onward.
Many urge me to turn back.
Alas,
That has never been
My way.
As for me,
I know nothing
Save the path that lies ahead.
Beauties never cease,
As Mother flaunts her wares.
She takes my breath away.
And still,
Something pulls me onward,
Just as surely
As the night beckons the day.
And in that sultry hour
When those two forlorn lovers
Pass one another,
Yet can not touch,
My dream is
Broken.
