Default To those who live in hot countries...

Im doing a report on sun, tanning and the risks of this and would really love everyone who lives in hot sunny places to answer this please...

Do you guys have to use sunblock and protect yourselves from UV rays if its sunny there every single day almost?
We dont here because there is hardly any sunshine so we dont have to.

Thanks in advance just wondering about this.

I don't. I don't know many people who do unless they're going to the beach or playing sports. I never had a problem with getting sunburned and if I ever wore it, I'd only put it on my face.

In Australia we are slowly coming to terms with the fact that we have the highest rate of sunshine-related skin cancers.

As a child (50 years ago, my mother slathered me with what sunscreens were available at that time. Ironically, my Mum, later on suffered from melanomas that required the amputation of both legs.

A few years ago, there was a successful media campaign called "slip slop slap' (slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat).

You might have noticed that Australian cricketers put zinc cream on their faces, especially noses, when the are on the pitch.

Schoolchildren are required to wear sunhats as part of their uniform.

Weather forecasts always include the UV ratings, and warnings if they are going to be especially high. Even in winter

Schools, aged care facilities, and other institutions are required to make factor 30 sunblock (which is made from bat shyt) available to students and clients.

But our beach culture sometimes defeats our awareness of the risks.

I personally never use suntan lotion. I don't tan, I burn regardless. I'm fair skinned. Like "MoxieBravo" said, people usually only use it at the pool. Or if they are going down to the coast. We have something called Ozone (Hostile) Warning days which basically means the air is polluted and the heat index is high. Older adults and children are discouraged from spending any significant amount of time outside. I love Texas anyway!
I'm a stupid jerk, under a bridge I lurk. I'm an idiot too.
I guess I'm not a punk cause I stopped getting drunk,
and puking all over my shoes. I can't run with you sports
I'm hanging on the porch and I'm having fun today....

I never use sunscreen, I have olive skin never burned no matter how long in the sun, if out long in the sun I do wear one of those flop hats ( I call them )to protect my eyes. The sun does not cause any problems to my skin, maybe because I am part Native American.
Living in TX too, Keith already posted on the the rest of what we have here. I love TX also.
