You know when I first started writing inmates I didn't want to write anyone who was in a gang really. I figured there are leaders and there are followers. My Mom taught me to be a leader and I couldn't roll with someone who would fall into the pack mentality. That was the naive me.
The reality is it's survival for some of these guys. Yeah there is all the criminal enterprise attached to it, but there's also protection.

It's no secret that I have a crush? Thing? Love interest in my pen pal. While it's no secret, it really is a surprise to me.
We've been writing for close to a year now and we just had our first visit. I was able to visit him because I was in the area, not because I felt I MUST fly out to NY to meet him. Being in the vicinity though I did feel like I MUST go see him and so I did.
I did not CHOOSE MM. My ex had asked me to find someone to write his friend and I did.

Is it just ME or does it seem like suddenly EVERY thread has some cause for concern about being scammed?
I don't know if it's because we got a sudden influx of newbies or what, but it's like so many people seem OVERLY consumed to me. I've been at this just over a year now. Am I so experienced that I don't have these questions anymore?

I was giving it until Valentine's Day, but I really don't imagine Ruben saying anything to change the fact that when it looked like it was going to get difficult for HIM and that HE might have to work to keep this together that he bailed.
