Does anyone know when the prisoners will be moved back to Angola?

I'm just wondering, today I received a letter from my penpal, he sent it off on the day when they were evacuated (due to the article..).. So now I don't know when I should write back you know? In fact, I have no idea how bad the situation there really is =(

You can write him and the mail will probably automatically get forwarded because they already know that the inmates have been moved. Or check the LA website for the address to this David Wade CC and send it there. If the DOC doesn't show him as MOVED to DWCC I might mail it there and make a note that he's an evacuee on the envelope. That's what I would do.

what camp is he in?

the situation there isn't bad. my friend is in camp C and i've gotten 2 letters from him since the whole debacle began. and the mail is only running about a day behind in and out of there. and don't write to DWCC! you don't know if he even went there.

just want to add that camp c, camp j and death row didn't evacuate as far as i know. i'd just either hold your letter or send it on out. they're going to be getting back by the end of the month, and that's not too much longer.

Hi there! Sorry if this is a little late but am new here & just came across your post! You asked about mail to inmates at louisiana..well i can only share what i know about angola! my friend is on DR there..they have been relocated to the old DR buildings which is on higher ground. They can still receive mail but cannot write back as yet because they were only allowed to take personal items like clothing & hygiene stuff..but no pen, paper or stamps! You are advised to not send any packages of sorts until they are back in their usual location! so i'm feeling they would really appreciate getting all your letters so much right now. xx

^^ That. And I think the ones that evacuated to other prisons couldn't bring anything but their personal hygiene items as well. From what I'm hearing they should be getting back to Angola (and their regular housing) within the next week or so.

Sorry for this delay but I thank you guys a lot for your answers. I also decided to send my letter off to Angola, thought either he'll receive it or they're going to reject it, there's not much else that could happen right.
@MoxieBravo my penpal is also at the DR/CCR section in Angola. So I guess he's been moved the old buildings like bananashake's penpal has.

got a letter from my friend today and he said that angola is still under a state of emergency and he has no idea when they're going to lift it.

Hm OK well I guess the only thing we can do then is waiting huh. I am not sure when my penpal would write me back anyways, he has been in a pretty depressed mood before so it will take some time until I hear from him again.. :-(
