Default intro hello from new york

hello my name is kevin. im 29 year old from brooklyn ny. i have joined this site and am debating on contact a prisoner. my approach when i find someone i might want to write to is to google their name and try to find specifics on the crime. i have found several people i want to contact. i think im going to start only with one. i do have some concerns though. im sure everyone does during initial contact.
i have a friend in florida who is currently facing serious felony charges. while i was living in florida we (her and i) worked for a company that produced female on male "beatdown videos" you can google or private message me for more details. well the guy we worked for was a serious sociopath, pathalogical liar, and hardcore manipulator. i myself fell victim to his "cult" like ways. i wont babble about the six months of hell i went through down there. the point is if i had stayed there, i too would be facing felony charges of assault. i wasn't always innocent here in ny. ive done my share of illegal activities but never violent crimes.
the reason i want to reach out to an inmate is because i am a good person, and have learned from my mistakes. i want to be able to help make someones life better, and help bring a smile to their face if i can. my friend in florida will be a penpal once i can find out where to write her.
i have always been fascinated with what drives certain criminals to commit the acts they do. having gone through what i went through in florida i can understand how one simple mistake can ruin you. granted some crimes are violent, and atrocious, but i know the feeling of being at that low point.

so i guess i've rambled on enough. any advice you can give me would be great. thanks...sorry to bother you with my story. lol

    Follow your heart.

But then certain forum members think I'm a f'king a'hole so don't listen to me.

Be thankful that your hell in Florida only used up six months. My hell in Melbourne took away twelve years.

Remember that when it stops being fun, its not worth doing anymore.

the signs that the florida situation was bad were there way before the six months. i was running from my problems here in ny. i started having panic attacks about two months down there. im still kind of dealing with the aftermath emotionally. florida was an eye opening experience that much i will say. while i was there one of the other girls that worked with us left her husband and fled the state with her kids, with me helping her on her trip to ohio with the kids. that situation could have turned bad QUICK! looking back now technically that was custodial interferrance. luckily for all involved there...her husband was a wack job who buried himself by commiting various felonies to implicate her. damn...what a mess that was lol. thanks for the advice.

    Gunga Din

By Rudyard Kipling 1865–1936 Rudyard Kipling

You may talk o’ gin and beer
When you’re quartered safe out ’ere,
    An’ you’re sent to penny-fights an’ Aldershot it;
But when it comes to slaughter
You will do your work on water,
An’ you’ll lick the bloomin’ boots of ’im that’s got it.
    Now in Injia’s sunny clime,
Where I used to spend my time
A-servin’ of ’Er Majesty the Queen,
    Of all them blackfaced crew
    The finest man I knew
Was our regimental bhisti, Gunga Din,
    He was ‘Din! Din! Din!
‘You limpin’ lump o’ brick-dust, Gunga Din!
    ‘Hi! Slippy hitherao
    ‘Water, get it! Panee lao,
‘You squidgy-nosed old idol, Gunga Din.’

    The uniform ’e wore
    Was nothin’ much before,
An’ rather less than ’arf o’ that be’ind,
For a piece o’ twisty rag
    An’ a goatskin water-bag
Was all the field-equipment ’e could find.
    When the sweatin’ troop-train lay
In a sidin’ through the day,
Where the ’eat would make your bloomin’ eyebrows crawl,
    We shouted ‘Harry By!’
    Till our throats were bricky-dry,
Then we wopped ’im ’cause ’e couldn’t serve us all.
    It was ‘Din! Din! Din!
‘You ’eathen, where the mischief ’ave you been?
‘You put some juldee in it
‘Or I’ll marrow you this minute
‘If you don’t fill up my helmet, Gunga Din!’

’E would dot an’ carry one
    Till the longest day was done;
An’ ’e didn’t seem to know the use o’ fear.
If we charged or broke or cut,
You could bet your bloomin’ nut,
’E’d be waitin’ fifty paces right flank rear.
With ’is mussick a on ’is back,
’E would skip with our attack,
An’ watch us till the bugles made 'Retire,’
An’ for all ’is dirty ’ide
’E was white, clear white, inside
When ’e went to tend the wounded under fire!
    It was ‘Din! Din! Din!’
With the bullets kickin’ dust-spots on the green.
    When the cartridges ran out,
You could hear the front-ranks shout,
    ‘Hi! ammunition-mules an' Gunga Din!’

    I shan’t forgit the night
When I dropped be’ind the fight
With a bullet where my belt-plate should ’a’ been.
I was chokin’ mad with thirst,
An’ the man that spied me first
Was our good old grinnin’, gruntin’ Gunga Din.
    ’E lifted up my ’ead,
An’ he plugged me where I bled,
An’ ’e guv me ’arf-a-pint o’ water green.
It was crawlin’ and it stunk,
But of all the drinks I’ve drunk,
I’m gratefullest to one from Gunga Din.
    It was 'Din! Din! Din!
    ‘’Ere’s a beggar with a bullet through ’is spleen;
    ‘’E's chawin’ up the ground,
    ‘An’ ’e’s kickin’ all around:
‘For Gawd’s sake git the water, Gunga Din!’

    ’E carried me away
    To where a dooli lay,
An’ a bullet come an’ drilled the beggar clean.
    ’E put me safe inside,
    An’ just before ’e died,
'I ’ope you liked your drink,’ sez Gunga Din.
So I’ll meet ’im later on
At the place where ’e is gone—
Where it’s always double drill and no canteen.
’E’ll be squattin’ on the coals
Givin’ drink to poor damned souls,
An’ I’ll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din!
    Yes, Din! Din! Din!
    You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din!
Though I’ve belted you and flayed you,
By the livin’ Gawd that made you,
You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

Hi Kevin and welcome to WAP. It sounds like you are here for all the right reasons. My only advice would be to relax and be yourself. I don't know what kinds of crimes you might be fearful of, but they are all looking for a friend. Just look through the profiles and try to pick one that seems to be a good fit. As for the debate, I'm sure that we all go through the same thing. It took me several month before I worked up the courage to write to my first PP. So, good luck and Happy Writing. :-)

    Hey Kev!!!

NYer turned Floridian here. Where were you down here I'm curious? I've been here 6 years, originally from Queens. My husband is from Brooklyn, Bay Ridge/Bensonhurst area and he's doing his time in Clinton. So frustrating that Queens is the ONLY borough that uses cities so you know where the hell someone is talking about.

    Anyway

Funny I was asked to maybe do some sort of fighting videos - or try out for it. Though they were based in Sarasota or something. Though I think it was women wrestling or something.

Well hope you're enjoying NY. I really don't miss it at all. Well I do miss FOOD. There are too many things I can't get down here that I miss, but I wouldn't trade it for the Florida weather, that's for sure.
