*sigh* yet another mother who wants to be her kid's "friend" and is actually her worst enemy. Unfortunately, I am all to familliar with this sort of thing. Ha ha, my kids don't get to eat a cookie without ol' eagle eye on top of them!!!!

That is crazy. The mum in the news, not you gooddog. lol. My daughter once said to me if you want to be my friend, you have to let me do whatever I want. I said with a laugh "Fine I won't be your friend then. I'll just be your mummy. Go clean up your room now!".

My Mother was a nasty, vintictive woman. But there was nothing she would not have done for her three nasty, vindictive children. In the 50s and 60s in Australia, drugs and (to a lesser extent) alcohol were not options, but had my Mother had those options, she would have done her utmost to keep us as home, and to 'indulge' in safety.

Sadly, guess I'm a jaded person but nothing
on the news shocks me anymore.

Right? I don't need 11 year olds as friends, thanks. I so don't care if my kids "like" me in certain moments when they absolutely don't! As long as I always LOVE them I don't care if they LIKE me.

Just this morning something didn't go my daughters way and she shot daggers at me and gave all kinds of 'tude. Whatever dude.

Unfortunately this kind of "party mom" in this article is nothing new.

I can guarantee I have friends alive today because one of our mothers let us drink and party at the house. The rule was though, if we take a drink, we spend the night; no exceptions. In fact one night while we were there two of our friends were killed in a drunk driving accident.

I'm not condoning this womans behavior, she was passing out an illegal narcotic, and the kids were 12-13. My friends and I were closer to 18-19 at the time, and we were going to party regardless, I'm just glad we had a safe place to do it.

Yeah, I read about this woman when I was seeking out more information regarding the listeria outbreak...I guess I wouldn't be considered a "cool" Mom because I certainly do not condone under-age anything in this house. The only thing remotely close to approving alcohol consumption is allowing the use of my wine or champagne glasses for the kids' bottle of Sparkling Cider for a New Year's toast or something like that - (lame, I know hahahahahaha!!!) I understand how some parents might see the "safe side" of the experimentation by being able to watch over their kids while they use....still, I don't agree with it.
