    Question Inmate released, letter returned....

    Hey everyone,

This might have already been asked, but I don't know for sure. What do you do if a letter is returned saying the inmate you wrote was released. This just happened to me. His profile is still active, though. Is there anything we can do about it? Has this happened to anybody else?

You should just let WAP know. If it came back from the prison I would imagine it's true.

Yeah, that happened to me earlier this year and depending on which state the inmate 'was' incarcerated the DOC may or may not show their info after they are released. If they were incarcerated in a federal penitentiary then it will show date of release.

Did he give any indication he was looking at a possible parole in the near term? Sometimes they do get it earlier. Regardless, I wouldn't hold my breath ever waiting to hear from him again.

I'm not sure which thought to address first. No. 1, most states, that I am aware of, do not forward mail to released prisoners, nor do they give out their address. It is a privacy issue.
Secondly, I am assuming that it is the WAP profile that is still showing. When my PP died, her profile stayed up for another six months, and even after I had notified WAP that she was dead. I do suppose that they had to verify that information with an official from the Texas DOC. Otherwise, any joker could call them up and tell that one inmate, or another, had kicked the bucket.
