Default Books to Inmate through Amazon?

I'd like to send my PP a book set from Amazon.com, but what are the rules? I already made sure the books are not banned. Oh, and I'm buying new and shipping to TX.

Texas prison bookstore can usually tell you what books are banned or not, I use Amazon but if I am in doubt I call them

Leeanna, also, a lot of places don't allow hardback books, only soft. And don't send too many, keep it to two per shipment. Also, only buy new books and not the new books offered on Amazon's Marketplace, because they will come from another shipping address.

I think it sometimes depends on who is working in the mailroom on any given day and whether the inmate in on the current shyte list as to whether the number of books causes a problem, but I have sent at least 4 books at a time to a Texan inmate, and it was not a problem. I'd agree that [paperbacks are ususally a safer option. I have also sent used books via the Amazon Marketplace and they have got through to the intended recipient.

If in any doubt, best to contact the prison where the book will be sent.

Yes, Earthmother, I agree. So much depends on who's checking that day. I was just giving the things most likely to NOT cause problems. It would be a huge disappointment to have something rejected when you're expecting it to go through. I too sometimes think I'll just chance it, but always know I take a risk. And, off the direct topic, but, even with letter content or printing on both sides of the paper, not putting names on everything, etc. etc., I know they are things that could be rejected but often aren't. I think too, it depends on what level security the prison is.

I sent some books to Gatesville, Texas from Amazon just last month. I made sure they were not banned, all paperbacks and made sure they were not gift wrapped and my details in the billing section, inmates details in address section. I made sure all the books were Amazon fulfilled stock and not marketplace books, that way they were all in the one parcel. It was delivered quickly and with no hassle. First time I ever used Amazon
