We don't have household mail delivery where I am... so it is a trip to the PO Box. I do a silent 'WooHoo!' when I see a letter(s) in the box. I try to read them in the car, but if I have the kids with me, or I walked to the post office, I hold off until we are home (and the kids are busy playing) before I open them. I read it through and then put it aside until I can sit down and reply, when I will re-read them as I am typing/writing back to them.

I check my mail box every day (execpt weekends, cause there is no mail then ...). When I have a letter from my pp, I get this big smile on my face. I open the envelope, but I wait untill I'm inside the appartment to read the letter. I read it two or three times and then I start to write him a letter back . Now he's in many different programs for his education, work release, parenting classes... So the letters I get are much shorter and it used to be one letter a week, now one letter a month or two months. I'm glad and proud of him putting lots of effort in these programs but I miss the long conversations through our letters

If it's after 11:30am I know the mail lady has already come by. If I'm home I just about sprint to my mailbox, forgetting my shoes most of the time and burning them up on the concrete. Then I run back inside, immediately rip it open, read it, and then reply to it all at the same time. I also have a gigantic binder I have with all the letters, envelopes, pictures, etc in sheet protectors, all in order.

I arrive home from work at 15h, and as soon as I get out of the car I run to the mailbox. I jump from happiness for few seconds until I realize I´m not alone, and I enter the house, rush to the garden or a room where I can be alone and open it, see how long it is, and start reading. At that moment everyone knows that nothing can bother me for a long time and that my goofy smile will be difficult to take away during the coming weeks (contrary to when I don´t receive letters, which makes me a bit irritable).
