Hey, me again.. ok i was wondering, with jpay, how can you tell if they can email back or have to send a written letter? i only have one pp, and we hand write letters because if he takes the time to write, i can too.. i was possibly thinking of taking on one more pp, but only through email, my schedule is too crammed to be able to put full effort into 2 people with written letters (i hope that didnt come out wrong) anyways, do you just email the person and ask? or how can you tell if their prison lets them have access to type back? thanks !

Re: email
hi ya, have you looked around Jpay. If you sign up for an account you can then add in inmates no's or names and it will add them if jpay is available. Look carefully though as some facilities you can email them but they cannot email you back. For example PA was like this. Washington can email back. Have a look around their site and it should give you more info on the facilities etc. It is a really great way to communicate but if you find someone who cannot jpay then you could always just type the letters, print and send them that way. Im sure a good PP will appreciate this. Being able to Jpay from your side but not for them can be tricky as you are always way ahead of them with the communication.
Thats my experience anyway.

Re: email
From my experience, you would first search the website for either the inmates name and DOC# or the prison that the inmate is in and after you do that there is a link in which you can click on that will show you exactly what services are available to inmates of his/her particular facility. If inmates are able to respond via email it will list that they have inmate kiosks available along with how many. Also for re-affirmation you can call the mail room of that prison and just ask if inmates can respond to email via kiosk or snail mail. Some prisons through JPay also allow the option of you pre-purchasing virtual or regular stamps for the inmate to respond to you.
Another side note: JPay Inmate Services Facebook page has a large community and someone is usually pretty speedy responding to any other questions on their wall also, if not from JPay themselves then from family members/friends who use the service to communicate with their incarcerated loved ones. Hope I was helpful. Here is a link also:

P.S. Someone was responding as I was...sorry if I listed repetitive information
