Dallas.

Is that very far? sorry I have never been to texas![]()
It's about 100 miles from Dallas, I believe. In the scheme of things, that's not far.
You will need to hire a car.

Driving in Texas is super easy. Most of the roads are very straight and quite empty. I use a sat nav to get around because I find the signage is not as good as I'm used to at home but apart from that it's a doddle.

Sure you could drive it! You'd be driving through some open spaces so it's not like it'll be driving through cities. Also, if it makes you nervous to drive in the Dallas, it's not that much further if you'd fly into Houston (IAH airport). The ride would take you up through pretty open land. And it's not hard getting out of Houston from that way.

Thanks for the advise. I go to new york one a year as I was born there and I have family there but I never drive as it scares the sh*t out of me. From reading you comment I might drive it as it sounds a bit likr driving in ireland except on a different side.
Actually, Tyler has an airport. Just a little one, but you can get a connection from Dallas. If you don't drive though, forget it. There are no buses out to the prison and you wont know what time to get a taxi to return and pick you up because once you are inside TDCJ you run on their time not your own.

totally forgot about tyler!
i was just looking on the map and there's an airport in palestine too - probably super small, but it's there.
it looks like no matter where you go in from (except if you take I-45 from houston) it's a lot of driving on a bunch of those farm-to-market roads, which means there's more than likely going to be little to no traffic. i drove on those the last time i went to livingston and it was fun.![]()
