Duh.
You stated it exactly as I feel gooddog, moreso, I actually did write to one here who had listed 'seeking legal help' because I liked her ad so much. Unfortunately, that issue would come up again and again until I made it clear that I knew very little about U.S. law; hey, we're not talking about simple enough tasks I've done for others like grabbing possible pertinent info off the likes of FAMM or ussc.gov sites. Whereupon letters from her became infrequent and then totally stopped.
I'm not saying all are like this, but with so many other potential choices why invite potential problems.
When looking for a pp I always try to match myself up with what I imagine will even slightly be a good fit timewise, financially, legally, (what they seem to be looking for) etc, etc aside from the personality part. I don't blame them for making an innocence case their whole lives but yeah... if you don't have it to give, best leave it to one who does, eh?

Sometimes i think what we feel we have to offer and what we have the potential too is different though depending on what is taking place in our lives, don't you think GD?
I do agree though, sometimes we do not have what is being sought so best leave it to another, or simply help connect the two.![]()

Oh of course! Some people DO have what it takes to help someone out with their innocence case- and I think that could mean mentally, spiritually, physically (time and energy spent) or even financially. If that's what they got and that's how they want to use it then it's a win win situation. But yeah, if I know I don't have what it takes it's best left to another. (Not that all people who are or claim to be innocent are looking for hours of your free help or money.) It's just that I would imagine it does take primary place in their life. It would in mine!

I remember watching a show a while back, lockup maybe??......another wapster mentioned it here not long ago and the guy was in county jail he had been picked up for a string of offences committed but the stupid thing was he WAS INNOCENT.....I remember it was around Christmas or holidays and when the crime took place he was actually incarcerated in that state. In reality it should of been a 10 minute search tops by authorities to see this, yet this guy was held for WEEKS, not days, but WEEKS until the mess was sorted at the COST to the tax payer. I just thought that was so crazy. You hear him vent his frustrations at the camera crew/interviewer when no one seemed to care or listen. You did not see his day in court, what you did see was just at the end before the credits ran, that he was indeed innocent of all charges are released.
He was picked out in a line up from memory by a witness, so i can only imagine in reality if he had not been incarcerated and having a criminal history as he did how long he would of spent behind bars if he had not already been incarcerated? To be honest, i think he was one lucky guy.
