Report him for what? How did he take you for a ride? If you sent him money, your fault. Never send or lend money you can't afford to lose. I'm not sure what other warning signs are since you didn't say but in my opinion it's just as dangerous being played by a person on the outside as it is from a person on the inside. Without more information it's hard to tell if you were being played or not. They aren't boy scouts and just because they put a pen pal ad up doesn't mean that they are on the up and up.

Can only report if it's illegal activities or requests, I believe. Reporting that someone is a player or manipulator... nope. I had one like that too once. It stings, especially if you fell for it and did actually give them something but you don't need to warn the people on WAP about it because either we've already been there and done that, or, we are at least aware that it's out there for the having and won't have it.

It's easy to fall in to it, espeically if someone is charming and enticing and dangling friendship or romance. In the end I think of it this way: if they're in prison for a long time, they "could" have a really good friend in you that would sit this whole bid with them *IF* they treat you with respect. Seems to me that would be worth a lot more than games or a few bucks. But to some people, they don't see it that way. His loss.

If it's any comfort, jojo84, I have been taken by a woman on the outside, for $104. And, you are right, it's the deceit that hurts the worst. But the old saying goes: "Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me!"

And THAT is exactly what many people on this forum will come back with: that the being lied to by a friend, in or out of prison, is the knife. NOT the "bad old inmate" thing. Even though there are of course, plenty of bad old inmates... guess there wouldn't be prisons if there weren't, but it's the claiming foul on all pp's in this enterprise when one of them proves to be a baddy that makes people react. Not that you are doing that at all but that's what people tend to react to, just saying.

I was astoundingly hurt by a woman that I thought was a friend a while back. Took me a long time to get over it. It is like being blindsided and being made a fool of for sure. In the end, I thank her for it because I learned some very valuable things that helped me be a better person in the end. (And a little less naive and over trusting, and that's a good thing, maybe.)

At the end of it all I think, how sad for them that true friendship has less meaning in their life than mine. A true friend does not seek to hurt or abuse your kindness but goes out of their way to uphold it and be grateful for it, in my opinion. So out with the ones that can't, pity for them, and in with the ones that can.

Sorry you did not take heed to the warning signs, all you can hope is the next person will or his game playing days will come to an end sooner rather than later.
