Default Sharing a mailbox with family..

So I'm staying with my mom right now, and I've recently started writing to 2 penpals. I usually check the mail myself, but it never fails.. on the days I actually have something in the mail, I don't and she picks it up when she gets home. A few letters have already come through, and my mom isn't one who can keep her curiosity under control, so she of course reads what is written on the envelope, who it's from and the address, which I don't mind. I guess because it always has the word "Unit" on the envelope.. she asked me today "Have you been starting to write a bunch of Army people?"

I got such a laugh out of it.

My nana was staying with me once and picked up the mail, my worst nightmare and in her little Jamaican accent asked "who do you know in prison" ahhhhh my heart stopped. I was like chill nana I write him to uplift him. She said good for me! Now the rest of my family I would Have trouble finding words. I can do what I want I just dont want to hear their opinions. I go away for three days in September and my bro lives with me and I worry he will check the mail!!!! Haha

I share my house with five other guys. Whoever gets the mail dumps it on the hall table, after sorting through it for their own. There is a lot of mail, but even so, all of us have an inkling of what the others are up to:
I get a lot of mail from US prisons
Angelo gets lots of letters from a legion of relations in Costa Rica
Mike is in continual dispute with the water board about the condition of our drains
Matthew is continually committing traffic offences
Rico enters lots of on-line competitions
Mykl likes to look at lingerie and underwear catalogues.

We rub along together quite well. Not always fun, but we're all Catholic.

I get my mail sent to the PO BOX for the family business. My dad is the one that checks it.. He always seems a little more at ease when he sees an envelope that was clearly written by a female and doesn't just flick the letter at me, he'll place it down in front of me lol

I set up my own PO box because of this exact reason. I can foresee the concerns that my family would have, and quite frankly I want to avoid all discussions about it. This is something private for me, not that I feel ashamed or anything but I just don't wish to share this part of my life with any one.

I suppose I'm lucky in the fact that I knew my family wouldn't give me grief over it... maybe a few questions and raised eye brows... but nothing to make me feel like I was doing something crazy or wrong.
