I actually write it down on my calendar when I send something, and then again when I receive something back. So far, it's taking an average of in between two and three weeks. It feel like forever, though.

The same here, some times it is just so frustrating. I am in Australia and have a ppal in Chowchilla in California and one in Gatesville Texas. Letters from Cali can take 3-8 weeks but letters from Texas take only 7-11 days. Obviously I know there are various issues involved but it is still slow torture because I love getting home in the afternoon and finding a letter there. My pen pal sent me a card dated 12th of April to tell me I should expect a letter soon...I'm still waiting.

This is where I would consider having more than 2 pen pals.

my pp is in Washington and I'm in Australia.. it takes around 10 days to get from me to him and vice versa. I think the wait is fun.. annoying, but fun! especially when you get a letter you weren't expecting! I get them delivered to the PO BOX at my work because it's the most reliable mailbox I have available to me.. so I often have to wait HOURS with the letter sitting right in front of me before I get a chance to read it. THAT is the annoying part haha.

You make an excellent point. I do have a soldier. Quite a few, actually. My twin brother, who is currently on his 5th tour in Afghanistan, and my cousin and his wife (who are both in the Air Force) in Okinawa. And they just had twins a week ago. I have a cousin who is in the Republic of Georgia right now (she is an army medic), a cousin who is in Australia, and yet another cousin who is in Hawaii. My dad was in the Air Force, his brother was a SEAL........so, as you can see, I have enough soldiers to take care of. Just about every man, and a few women, in my family are military. So, I guess I chose to broaden my horizons.

LOL, I have to wonder why the continual push to write to soldiers? I would imagine that their mail might take just as long, or longer, to get to whom they are writing to.

I have mail!! Just found two letters on my doormat! I only started writing a month ago and waiting sucks, but now I’m sooooo happy
