The reaction of people without tattoos towards those with, is generally based on assumptions, age and culture. In the UK, tattoos are far more widely accepted now than they were even 10 years ago, but it does still depend where on the body you have them.

I have 5 but they are all on my legs. I'm not interested in having them anywhere else on my body. One is highly visible and large but the others are not.

I like to see them on others, and I like to hear about the stories behind them, but they don't influence me on how attractive I find the other person. Hubby has none.

As we mentioned earlier - the matter of having tattoos is a personal decision. The person interested in having a tattoo, determines its appearance and location - determines whether it has to be big, small, whether it should be placed in a prominent place on his/her body or not. The reasons why we decide to have a tattoo can be different. As I wrote earlier, this may be an expression of our emotions, our souls, and can also be a result of our fascination with tattoos or our whim. I also agree with the idea that tattoos can be addictive. As with many things in life, having a tattoo can be a consequence of more tattoos.
I personally wouldn't want to have a tattoo, but this does not mean I don't like tattoos. Some of them are really nice. Some of them are also an expression of artistic skills of their creators

I don't agree that the UK is now more accepting of tattoos. I have a giant tattoo on my upper arm, and don't get the best comments about it. It might be due to the fact that the tattoo doesn't match peoples preconceived perceptions of what I SHOULD be like as a person, based on my looks. In fact, I get a lot of people talking rubbish.

I found that people are more accepting in other European countries (Holland, Italy), and also from my limited time in AZ, everyone I came across had visible tattoos (mind you, it was hot and everyone wore shorts/t-shirts). No one stared at my arm, then my face and then my arm again, subtly trying to make a point.

Otherwise, I think tattoos are great on both women and men. I love to look at people like Kat Von D, she just looks far more interesting. Neck tattoos look great on men and can be cute on women, if they are kept small (Like Rhianna) .

MY experience in the UK is that people are very accepting. In my job i work with people of all ages (22-101) from all social backgrounds and income levels. I deal with everything from social workers to specialists doctors etc in my job and I must say that there is only ONE that has ever said anything bad about my tattoo and she thinks im her daughter and that im a disgrace to her family.... In my uniform 4 of my tattoos are visible. I have met one man outside of work but in my uniform who took it upon himself to grab hold of me and say i shouldnt work in the work im in cause its not respectable to have tattoos as a lady(lol) and once i was denied a job at B&Q cause of my neck tattoo which is tiny. Most people do ask questions as to what they mean and so on. On top of that i also have a visible lip piercing which no one says anything about. In the 13 years i been in the uk thats not bad i think.

I love those 'hollow' stars (don't know what else to call them!).

I have seven stars for the seven people who played an important part in my life.
