So my pp tells me that he is "a very proud white man". I asked him if he was raised this way or if it had become a bigger part of his life due to being in prison. He said he didn't turn white when he got to prison, but that a lot of guys do. So I asked him if he looked down on other races. He said that to him it has nothing to do with other races. That he is proud of his heritage and that he wants to look out for his own basically. Then he goes on to tell me about how he thinks it's wrong for people of different races to...mate. He doesn’t take issue with people personally, but the society that made them think it was ok. Basically he wants to preserve the differences. That sounds more like an anthropological or sociological conclusion to me, but here’s my question. Am I being naive? I understand his point, but at the same time how can you say interracial love is wrong when there is love involved?? I guess I’m just worried that maybe he’s treading lightly to soften me up and them BAM he’s affiliated with the ****in Aryan brotherhood or something. I don’t want to get mixed up in anything like that, but I am open to hearing his points as well as sharing mine.

What do you guys think? Anyone ever come across a pp with similar views?

You can be proud of your heritage without sounding the way he does, or saying the things he does. It's wrong to mate outside your race? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. If that were the case I wouldn't be alive, so yeah.

Oh btw, I rarely find someone who's all into "white pride" ... that's NOT racist. It just kind of goes hand in hand. Just sayin'.....

I would ask him. Let him know your concerns. It's not an easy subject but one where I'd say there's grounds for concern. Especially if you do not feel the same way! (hey, some do so it wouldn't bother them)

Every person I've met (prison or not) who has explained themselves in the way he has, has turned out to be particularly racist. I mean, you can't really claim not to be if you're claiming segregation is a good thing, IMO.

You will find that institutional life turns you that way the lines are drawn i have also seen that attitude in the military. I see nothing wrong in what he is saying he's entitled to his beliefs and he's not hurting any one.I know African American women that feel the same way they hate that "there men" get involved with white women are they racist for thinking that i don't believe so.

Yeah I think his issue lies within preserving the white race. He says it's not really about being better than other races, just about preserving his own. As far as him being in a prison gang, well he said exactly what English just said, "the lines are drawn". Although he is in solitary confinement now so it definitely goes beyond that. When I said I can see his point, I want you all to know I am not racist at all. I just wonder if in the future we will all be the same colour, so it's somewhat valid to think about. On the other hand WHAT ABOUT LOVE?! The heart wants what it wants. I'm definitely going to mention that in my next letter.

While I don't agree with him, I think my curiosity is going to keep me writing to him.

Yet, I see nothing wrong with individuals wanting to preserve their heritaqe mentality, harming no one. There are some Blacks who have the same thoughts in mind as well as whites, Natives etc. Personal choice and preference is not racist.
