The Definitive Awesome Letter Thread

So guys and gals (mostly gals of course) we have a lot of threads on this forum devoted to pen palling. We have smile threads and frown threads and goody threads that go on for over 100 pages, we even have a waiting thread now!

But we don't have an awesome letter thread! We all get letters, we all love it, we all check the mailbox more than we'd admit to anyone not on this forum, so let's talk about dem letters!

I'll start, the second last one I got was an amazing nine page letter from one of my favourite pen pals, actually my favourite pen pal period. We talked about everything I like to discuss with him (many of these things I would -love- to repeat but can't due to either ethical or embarassment reasons). It made my day and his response, according to the normal schedule, is only a week away now!

The most recent one was shorter, he's on lockdown because of an escape, they recaught the person but the lockdown has transitioned into a general shakedown.

Anyway those were the last two good ones! The usual rules apply, no names, that never leads to anything good, use aliases if you want to maintain continuity, especially if they're funny/witty and/or memorable.

Well, what I am going to share, doesn't pertain to a letter that I personally recieved from my man. It was one that he wrote to his mother. I talk to his mother on a daily basis. My man knows this. He's often asked what she and I talk about. Its nothing bad. Most of the things she has told me I already knew from him. I can see why he would be worried about his girlfriend talking to his mother....but its all good. I enjoy talking to her. Anyways, yesterday she recieved a letter from him, she read part of it to me. In it it said:

'Sweetcandy (he used my real name) tells me that you and her talk on a daily basis. I really like her mom. She is an amazing person and I'm trying to lock it down with her. Please not screw it up for me, ok.'

That made my day!!!!! I already knew his feelings for me, but you know how it is, you always have a teeny tiny doubt as to what's real and what's not. Hearing what he wrote his mother.....I know its real!!!

But but but but....what if ALL my letters that I get are awesome?!!...

I'll start by saying that all(ALL) my letters from R. are awesome, sometimes one is even more awesome than the other. His last letter, it made me giggle and chuckle so bad. At the end of the letter he made this little .... " instruction "... hilarious... he knows EXACTLY how to make me smile and laugh. It's one of many euhm.. "illustrations" he has made me xD

A while ago I started a thread about how I thought my letters bored my pp......yesterday I got a letter from him, with a picture, with him admitting he feared he'd been a boring penpal, apologized for not being so open and asking for a new start between us.......guess what the answer was....

that's awesome. Not everyone is a "natural born writer" because writing shows a lot of vulnerability at times! That's cool that he wants to try...

I recently got 2 incredibly awesome letters from Pelican Bay that hit ALL the high points for me: super, super music share, I mean like for PAGES, a common interest and love of Buddhism (always nice when both people can go "off" for hours and know they're not boring the other, ha ha!- an asked for philosophy!) and incredible self awareness that means so much to me:

"I am fully aware of every action of my own that led me to where I am now and I blame no other person than myself and yet now live to be a work in progress within myself." Ha ha, the magic words to me!!!

and SO MUCH to talk about! However... a little black cloud... it's been weeks (like too many weeks) since I've heard, so... hmmm... is this the mail slowdown disaster that so many seem to be experiencing, or, has he decided that he's done, which of course is his right and would not really surprise me. I hope he wants to come back, though. You never know, but, I do hope this will be solid. I'm solid but I never disdain anyone who changes their mind... for whatever reason. Sometimes they have their reasons, right? Hard to imagine him not coming back, but, if that's true then I will certainly cherish those 2 fantastic letters.

He actually asked me for ALL of the stuff I sent.... Buddha talk, fiction, music, etc... so COOL to talk to someone who wants the same page you're on! I would never (and don't) send such things to many pp's who have their own music, philosophies, and world views. It's pretty amazing when you do share all those things, though.

I sent him a 9 page letter that was pure music (no other tangents allowed!) and it is brilliant to do that with someone who is in to the same music as yourself.

Ofcourse he uses my real name, lol.

Did you know that you being a part of my life drives me to want to do the very best I can? Did you know you've changed all the ways I think and all my thought patterns? That you make me feel alive? To think that I could be part of something bigger than myself? To even want that is even new to me Vixxxen! (....) You just drive me to want and need to take a new found lead in my life and never ever fail again! I wish to make you proud of me Vixxxen. I now know and understand that I can do anything in life. No matter how hard it is or how tough it gets along the way. I know I can do it!
I truely know what it is to lose everything, be alive and not really living at all. My future holds awesome wonderful things. I know this cause you've shown me babe!


Soooo sweet! It not only made me feel very very special, but also I felt that my 'mission was accomplished' for he was kinda depressed and seemed to want to give up sometimes.
I am so proud of him!

Thanks ladies.
I really had to cry. Because it's not like in one letter he showed depression and I said 'you can do it' and this was his answer. It took a long time of writing him, being 'true' and honest and not give up on him. It was so worth it though.
