The Definitive Awesome Letter Thread

Hi all. I am just wondering, as I have been for days, is it proper to send pp a letter that has been typed on a computer? I notice from reading this thread, some of you talk about handwriting, and not just your pp's, but your own. Should I hand write my letters? I have absolutely miserable handwriting!

I didn't add jpay in right away at all, in fact, we talked on the phone before I added in jpay. One of the main reasons I added it is because the letters were taking 10 days (at least) and sometimes that just felt too long. But I'm a bit weird, I don't use jpay as "a letter".... I see it more as an email capability, which is nice, but I'm not sending 5 page jpays or anything. That's just me.

It's nice if you have something to say in a timely manner. They usually get it the next day or sometimes even the same day depending on what time of day you send it. (state and prison dependant, of course.)

Well, it's an awesome letter in reverse (at least I think so...) Phase two attack of "college education" for my pp!!! We've known each other 3 years now. About a year or so ago I sent him some stuff about education. While that all sounded good to him I just don't think he was in the space to really take it on board. I know the feeling!

Due to his recent setback in the system (more hopes dashed) I thought it might be a good time for me to nag again.... cheeful happy nagging, that is. I found some very, very Nevada specific educational opportunity stuff and will send that to him. It doesn't mean he wants it or will use it just... I like being a person that at the very least shows him that there is more, even if he's in prison. You really never know when something is going to click and it's going to be the right time for someone. Always hope to start again....

Got a letter from my lovely Mister California today. He wrote 5 pages (the average amount used to be 3), and sprayed some of his cologne on EVERY page....oh man, I think I need a cigarette right now, although I'm a non-smoker.

In my last letter I included a bucket list with around 75 things which I have already done or would like to do and commented it with funny side notes. And he did the same thing back. I totally didn't expect that he would do that.
I can tell you, that's a very fun thing to do to get to know eachother better!!

And he told me that he brought my letter to work to get to finish it as soon as possible, but then he remembered that he isn't allowed to take anything back to his cell and he will be strip searched, so he had to find an uncommon way to smuggle it to his cell, but he didn't mention how. I think I don't want to know it anyway.

Off to stick my nose into these addictive pages....

I got two awesome letters today. One from my fiance, and it was completely and one from D. Both letters were soooo happy, and had pictures and all. So I am really happy now, and are writing the first answer as we speak.

Next saturday is my B-day and I've already gotten my first B-day card from J It's just sooooo awesome!:



It came with an 8 page letter AND another envelope with a 6 page letter I'm being spoiled.

I received my first letter today and it only took 8 days from mailing it to receive a response so I feel pretty lucky (ohio to Washington State). Anywho, it was better than I could have hoped for. We have the same quirky sense of thinking and writing which tends to be a jumble of thoughts and he seems really cool. I sent about three pages hand written one sided and my handwriting is atrocious and he sent back 3 pages double sided and asked me lots of questions about myself which felt nice, I'm usually always the one asking questions! phew, anywho, I am really excited, I honestly didn't think I would get any replies and and am worried now bc I wrote to 5 people but I will honor my commitment to write to them and get to know them if they respond. Man o man I'm just super excited right now! Thanks!

Congrats bubble sounds like a great letter and experience... got my first letter this week too, I somehow just had the feeling I would get one before I checked the mail and I did... I sent a cute card with a short pleasant msg a little about me, etc got back 4 pages such a pleasant letter was really surprised..it was such a nice letter, and also received a cute postcard enclosed for me written out to me as well... it was a pleasant surprise.. I have already responded with a 5 pg letter and awaiting reply I just sent it yesterday so will be a few days...thanks for sharing.

ohhh i'm on cloud nine!!...i got a letter and a card from A. yesterday he told me today in our call that he sent more out wed. with more pictures of him.i made him stationary with his beloved san francisco 49's logo on it got it in the mail. woohooo can't wait for my sexy papi's!!! pictures

Glad you are happy I also got a picture and was in shock for a bit. He never told me he was sending it and I didn't know he had any to send. It took a little time to put it down. lol. It's now proudly displayed on my fridge.
