Hi, looking for some advice as I am still a newbie and still learning how it all works etc.

My PP whom I have been writing too since December said he wants to phone me! Which I must admit is quite exciting, as I would like to hear his sexy accent hehe

He told me in his letter that I received today that it won't cost me anything as he wants to pay for it out of his wages and all I need to do is give him my number so he can get me put on an 'approved call list'?

So, my question is, what does this mean, what happens then and how is it done? The whole him phoning me bit...especially with the time difference lol - I'm in the UK.

Thanks for any help in advance, I'm a bit nervous about it but happy to do it.

well he puts you on his phone list and gets approved and then he call u using a prepaid call its very easy ...good luck

I have to laugh at this because BEING from America, there is not one damn accent in this Godforsaken country that I find "sexy." But it's the FOREIGN thing that appeals I'm sure. Just like I love an Italian accent. Or French or Spanish. Yup the Latin ones are my favorite.

It will depend on what state your pal is in and whether he is in a Federal prison or a State prison.

OK, I have no experience with Michigan, but it looks like a State prison CORRECTIONS - Thumb Correctional Facility (TCF).

The difference between Federal and State is whether the crime was committed and broke Federal laws or State laws. If it was a Federal crime, then the inmate is under the supervision of the Bureau of Prisons and there is no parole. If it is a State crime, then the inmate is under the supervision of the State itself, usually the State Department of Corrections (or whatever name they go by) and there may or may not be an eligibility for parole depending on the various State laws.

You will need to make sure that your pal is legally permitted to make calls overseas, and that you satisfy the requirements for making those calls. jaxzter's response is not applicable to many of the State DoCs.

when my pp was in Pollock he called me once a week, he is not allowed calls where he is now.... anyway with the time difference, i am in Australia, and more often then not i got a call at 4am, they do not, in most cases, get to choose when they call so take it when you can. with the number, do the research to find out the exact number your pp has to call, ie country code ect, this is easy to google thats how i did it. i am with you on the accent thing, but YMI i understand what you are saying, i do not at all find an aussie accent sexy simply because to me it is not an accent its just how we talk... haha
