After release
Just wondering, for ose of you with PP's that aren't on DR or serving LWOP, have you had a PP that's continued writing after their release?
I've got a PP who's due out in a few months and he says he'll still write, he has no family and would like to stay in touch to see how i'm getting on, to keep me updated on how he's rebuilding his life etc. I thought that was quite nice for him to say that!
Aswell as being interested in life "behind bars" and also general correspondance and wanting to brighten up someones day, i'd still like to know how life goes on for other PP's after release.
Any stories to share?

Re: After release
I've had 2 pp's that got released.....
One of 'em, we started writing like 2 months before his release, exchanged maybe 2/3 letters. We chat on Facebook like once in a while. which, I'm cool with.
The other one, the bastard, as I so lovingly refer to him... We spoke every day when he was at his halfway house and then... I spoke to him for bit after his release, but now I'm ignoring him. his calls , his emails, fb chat. lol he has issues that are getting in the way of our friendship. plus, he's a bastard.

Re: After release
I have one guy that got out 2 months after we started writing and we're facebook friends now though we don't talk much.
I have another guy coming out this year. I had a relationship with him but he SAID we'd always be friends. I don't know if that will still be the case if I'm not single when he gets out ya know? Not sure. But I guess I can let you know as soon as April and as late as October.

Re: After release
The majority do not keep in touch after release. That doesn't mean that they were not genuinely interested in you as a person, it just usually means that they want to put as much of the prison life behind them when they get out, and you are part of that time. They often have a LOT to deal with upon release, basic things like housing and employment as well as abstract things like the wrld changing since they have been away from it.
If they don't keep in touch, don't take it personally.

Re: After release
I am really curious about it too, good topic!
One of my 2 pp's will get out in a week (he will be going to the halfway house) and he says he wants to stay in touch with me. I'm open for it, but I don't know, because i have the idea that he thinks that the outside world will be pretty much the same and won't change him (for instance: He is in love with me now and I really think it's because I am a single girl writing him, he doesn't even know me that well...).
The other one doesn't have ANYBODY and will be released in about half a year. I guess we will stay in touch because our contact goes really deep. On the other hand: If it does happen he will get back on the wrong track, I guess he won't contact me anymore because he will be ashamed.
So...I don't know. Curious about other stories, too!

So glad to hear it. How long were you writing him while he was in?
