Do you think I was cheeky.
I sent my pp a book on amazon the other night, because in his letter he had said something about "I checked my trusty books" in reference to a location about Ireland.
So I wanted to give him a book about the History of Ireland which is written as a novel rather than a textbook. Much easier for people not from Ireland to understand.
So then after I ordered it I got thinking that maybe that was a bit cheeky so early in our correspondance and then I discovered inmates on SHU are only allowed a certain amount of books.
I feel crap now.
Pats.

Sorry, this dumb American does not understand the term cheeky. Sometimes the Queens english does not translate well across rhe pond.

your not cheeky!!!
it's great you sended a book to him, maybe you only need to check with your pp how much books he can get in a month.
my special pp is only allowed 4 books in a month.
and a other pp I just got his second letter and he likes comics and anime and manga, so I ordered wolverine for him, I know he's going to like it ^^ and I don't feel weird sending it so early in our correspondence, just do what you think is right!

Re: Do you think I was cheeky.
cheeky
adjective
offensively bold; "a brash newcomer disputed the age-old rules for admission to the club"; "a nervy thing to say"
Like.... me posting the definition is rather cheeky.

Re: Do you think I was cheeky.
In american english it would stand for being Blunt
Basically a little too foward.
I don't think you were cheeky in the least. It's something you honestly thought he'd enjoy! Don't feel bad about it.

Oh I went to see the Woverine movie, very very good! But thanks, I'm glad to know I wasn't being to forward.
The book will probably get to him before my letter does!

I do try my best to use neutral slang, but sometimes it slips out!

Patsy,
I rather enjoy reading the posts from people outside the US. Can always pick up a new phrase or two. I especially enjoy reading posts from UK members. They afterall speak the mother tongue.
