I just received my first call from my pp and think i've made an idiot of myself oh my, i froze there were moments of silence so i'm not sure if this meant he was nervvous too, i am now scared what he thought of me and that he won't call again...his voice everything, i just had brainfreeze!

Aww no dont feel like that hun... A phone call is so different to a letter... think about if one of us was to ring you .. you would do the same... Now you know what to expect and hopefully won't be as shy next time! You will be fine... the first time always sucks (i'm a phone virgin.. hoping they will be gentle with me!) .. you are no longer a call virgin though.. it all gets better from here!!

Relax I think most of us had similar experiences when dealing with the first phonecall(s). I'm sure your pp just loved talking to you. Just write him a note or send him a card, telling him how happy you were to finally hear his voice and that you were nervous, etc As for the silences - I find that once you're comfortable talking to each other, a silence is just a peaceful moment you share together.

I think anyone would be nervous on their first phone call to someone that they have been corresponding with via letters. You dont have to feel bad at all, even when I am on the phone to my parents there a silences at times. If anything in your next letter make a joke out of it, I am sure he felt just as nervous and lost for words as you were.
Or look at it as secret morse code, the speach was interlaced with silence passing on the secret message that "Pigmy's are taking over south-west France" Or something like that lol.

Thanks for the reassurances guys...i got off the phone and thought 'thats it' i wont get another letter he'll think what a jerk hes been corresponding with. i hope i'm wrong. the call was sooo unexpected!!!!!

Aww I am sure you are wrong, but look at it this way he was probably feeling the exact same thing, and as Jenie said, a letter is very different to a phone call. And if that happened to me, I would writing a letter making fun of the situation, "I finally got the call from you, and I was nervous etc."

P.S. The more you worry the more you will doubt your actions, and in this case they were totally natural. And I would do the same just freeze lol but like I said its totally natural. ( sorry don't know if I managed to explain it too well ooops)

Nah, I think you're worried too much. Your pal is just as worried as you, I'm sure. Don't fuss over it too much.

Dont worry about it, my pal has been calling me for a year now on a regular basis, now its daily, and there are still times that I sit there with nothing to say, in total silence. When I apologize for it, he says spending a few minutes sitting quiet with me is better than a lifetime inside there with all of them.

My DR PP called me for the first time Sat. night. It was so unexpected (I had thought it would be at least another week). He seemed so calm and I was just giddy and nervous. I'm also worried that he thinks I'm at idiot and won't write or call again. I hope I'm wrong. I guess realistically I think I'm being silly, but I'm still scared.
