Another advice is needed please
Hello again,
My special PP's mother sent me a letter to thank me & my 6 years old son for writing and sending drawings to her son. I was so touched and replied back immediately. She then sent my son a couple of presents (a CD & a book) as well as a gold ring for me from her son plus few other things. I sent money and books for my special PP but having trouble to find a suitable gift to send to his mother. Can anyone advice me what type of gift should I send her? I don't know her well enough to know what she likes although my PP spoke about her a lot. Please advice me and thank you once again for always helping me with your good advices

If she is in the US, I would think that she would like something special to your country, something that you can only get there. Or a "picture book" of Australia, a calendar of Australia, etc. I know that is something I would like from someone in a country other than my own.
I am sure she would appreciate anything. You might even send her a picture of you and your son in a nice frame.

I think sending a gift from/about your country is a very good idea!
Be advised though...the rest of the world doesn't appreciate the taste of vegemite

The idea to send her something of/about your country is a great one! For example, Holland is known for their wooden shoes. I had a friend who once sent me some wooden shoes from Holland, and I have them displayed prominently on my desk. This same person sent me a 'Birthday Calendar'. It had pictures on each page of different attractions in her area. There were spaces for me to list the birthdays of those I care about, what their ages were, and gift ideas.
However, you might want to consider sending her some nice stationery to write her son on. You can find gift boxes of it in almost any bookstore. Another suggestion would be perhaps getting her a small, inexpensive locket with a picture of her son in it. Maybe, if you want to put a lot of time into something special and unique, you could ask your pal to relate some of his favorite childhood memories that include his mother, and put them into a book form. Kind of like a "This Is Your Life" thing. I'm sure she'd get lots of smiles out of reading it, and perhaps allowing your daughter to 'illustrate' it with her drawings. For an example, He could tell you about getting a spanking for doing something wrong, and she could draw a picture depicting a stinging bottomed little boy. You could tell the story, and she could do the illustrations from the viewpoint of a child. I think I'd like something like that myself. Whatever you choose, I'm sure she'll treasure it knowing that you care for her son too.

I did sent the mother of my pal some belgian lace and an English cookbook with the typical recipees of Belgium.
Maybe this gives you some ideas. Thus, some thingd typical from your country like the rest said. They really love it.
To the kids of my pal (15 and 17 years old), I did send CD's with music from Belgian bands.
Kind regards,
Karin, Belgium

Good ideas.
I'll now look around for some Aussie souvenirs. Thanks everyone.
For BrokenOne, your suggestions about the locket and making a book using my son's drawings are really great ideas. I'm going to start on the book soon actually so it would be done before her coming birthday in few months. Thanks

Redcactus, I'm happy to be of help!
I don't know if you have any ideas about how to put something like that into book form, but if you're familiar with scrapbooking, I think that would be a great idea, as you can make it look rather frilly!
Good luck with the project! Let us know how it turns out!

The other thing i have sent to my friend in America, besides the usual aussie stuff is Tim Tams, i'm not sure why, but the chocolate is different to theirs and i have had requests to send more. It was a big hit.
What i did was send her 2 nice cups with the Sydney Opera House on them, and a couple packets of Tim Tams, and then told her to have a cuppa on me.
