Totally O/T Give me a break....
Is it really so bad to be who we are and happy with it ,,, putting one thru so much pain and possible bad heath to be perfect ????
We can suck fat out,,,or add it in ,,,lift it up ,,,pin it back and now they have a new one ,,,,, they take some hair from the back of the scalp and cut the eyelids and put the hair there,,,, pain...........and near the eyes to boot,,, then that hair keeps growing and needs to be trimmed and cut
???? Is anything real anymore??? What ever happened to growing old and being proud of it, and having human flaws ,,,it just amazes me what some will go thru to look like a barbie doll,,,, who as one man said on the news ,,,Barbie looks like a prostitute LOL,,, I can see going thru pain to try to inprove ones health,,, that is a far as this gal goes,,, I even hate fake nails ,,,, reminds me when young and on a double date with friend she was trying to act so mature,,, and putting her hands thru his hair,,, two of the fake ones got caught in his hair ,,,, funny but,,, at her age trying to impress,,, embarrassing LOL ...
This subject came up with friends lately and just wonder if others really feel like us ,,,things are getting a bit unreal... too,,,or are we just getting out of touch ,,,, or old school here?????????????

Peanut, what i think even sadder about all this "plastic look" is the reasons behind it. Our expectations as a society in whole and general are beyond what i believe to be reality. We are wanting the "perfect" body, the "perfect " look. What ever that maybe to the persons involved.
So many people are wanting the quick fix like you said, liposuction, peck implants, the list is never ending. I look at some of the stars and see all the surgery they have endured, wondering why. When i believe they looked good before. Like Micheal Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Mrs Weildestein (sp?) and many more that have followed in their footsteps.
I'm with you. I would rather grow old gracefully as mother nature intended. Science and medicine have come a very long way, but sometimes i question is the many uses it has being directed along the wrong roads?
I welcome old age and wrinkles (smiles wide)

Very interesting subject peanut and I agree with smiley and just want to add a couple more things.
It's the medias who make people want to look 'perfect'. They tell you if you are fat, nobody likes you, if you have little breasts, nobody likes you, if you have no hair, nobody likes you and so on and on.
The main problem is a simple one, the meaning of Love! If a woman receives real love, she won't even think or feel that she would need implants. And the same with men, if she doesn't like you without hair, how can you be sure that she would like you with hair. Has nothing to do with attentiondeficit, feeling better about themselves, but with the deficit of receiving and giving real love. In the future there will be someday a stereotype for each gender.
That some stars or starlets need that stuff to become appriciated, well that's called 'Holy-weird'. Sadly the majority of the youth needs and wants to play the very same game. Go to highschool and look at all the little Paris Hiltons and the like-to-be HipHoppers and so on and on...
There it starts, dying the hair, wearing the same 'hip' overpriced clothes, and where it ends, well that you decribed very well Peanut.

The saddest part of this whole thing.... is when my 10 year old daughter comes to me crying cause she is fat! She is 10 years old, wears a size 10-12.... as far as clothes go she should be right on for her age but her classmates dont agree. When it comes down to children beleiveing they have to look a certain way, it is sickening to me. I mean, there is a difference between and obese child and average.
Life throws curve balls, get battin and stay strong! Momof6

Momof5,,,that is the saddest part to the leading to all this ,,,,is the effects it has on the kides and self image,,,,,, which is sooo important at their young ys on what is important,,,, and real,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the harm it is doing in the long run to them is obvious in and outside of school............

"Attractiveness" is merely our biology dictating which physical characteristics are signs of a better quality potential mate. It's perfectly common throughout the animal kingdom.
All of us have surely noticed the benefits of being attractive, and most of us try to look our best. For an actor, the benefit of being attractive can be counted in the millions of dollars, so certainly they try to jump start or prolong their careers with cosmetic surgery.
Current cosmetic surgery practices sometimes have imperfect results, but that will improve in time.
As for the people who disdain cosmetic surgery, these same people will nontheless go to the dentist to get their crooked teeth straightened, go to the doctor to get the wart removed from their nose, and get Lasik surgery so they don't have to wear eye glasses.

well....just LOOK at Paris Hilton - is that what EVERY FAMOUS PERSON is going to be looking like in the future, because if it is.. god help us all!

LOL gobbi....
Vin,,, I do not destain anyone who has cosmetic surgery for reasonable and safe to health procedures,,, at all,,, over kill and putting one's heath at risk to look like plastic to the extreme has also mental effects,,, that obviously show up in many area's of society today that even melds down to kids knowing what is really important to self esteem and so much more in life,,,
The rich and famous do it for a living to keep on top,,, which to is sad,, and how fickle if something goes wrong how society turns on them shows a lot to the damage this whole plastic thing is doing in the big picture,,, we will adventually have a throw away if not perfect society ,,,, scary .....
