Two things I'm going to do:

1) Sponsor an ad for an indigent. Through a WAP FAQ I was led to a donation page where you can specify that you want to sponsor an ad for an indigent. Unfortunately after supplying my contact and credit card info, there was an error with the transaction. I've opened a error report with the WAP tech support, hopefully if it's a prob on the WAP end they can fix it soon. I'm waiting to hear from them.

2) Encourage all women I know to check out this site and consider writing to an inmate. There are so many new ads ... I looked at a few and had the same reaction as when I looked at them for the first time, basically with a very heavy heart. I really think it would be good for these guys to have nice women to communicate with ! I don't think it helps anyone, the inmates or those of us outside of prison, to have these guys so completely cut off the way they are. I really don't want to have more than one penpal, otherwise I would write to more myself.

Good for you! I wish you every success! I paid for 2 ads for friends of my 2 of my PP's that were indigent and have not regreted it. I got a message through one of my pp's that one of the guys I sponsored has found a great pp and is extremely grateful as his family and friends had abandoned him. That alone made me feel that it is worth it and put a hige smile on my face.

I've only seen this term once before in one of the ads. What is an indigent? I know what it means here, but what about behind the fence?

Penbeach, I suppose the amount differs from state to state, but it's my understanding that indigent means that the inmate has an extremely low amount of $$ in their account. I just did a quick Google search ... one site says $2.00 or less in account, another says $0 for thirty days.

Yes iam going to this I will have to go and find this and I can pay for 2 adds , now is just just in any one or do you have to said you want to this to go to women or men Inmates, just asking and I will have to go and find that.

I paid for an AD back in Dec for guy hope he has found a wondeful pal to write to!!

I found that and I will get on line and pay for two adds I can do that it is only 80.00 and someone I hope will fine a PP.

Silverparrot, did you contribute for an indigent inmate, or did you set up an ad for someone you knew ? If the former, I'd like to know how the process works. I know I was supposed to mention in the comments area that I wanted to sponsor an indigent inmate and the FAQ says that you will receive info about the inmate.
