Completely off topic, probably, and probably not your style, but if it would be me, I would answer him that I really like the quote: 'Have the guts to be nuts' (this was the advertisement for a chocolate bar in Belgium in the 80's, and I truly like that quote!)

Its kind of a hostile sentiment lol. It's almost like he's basically just telling you flat out if you arent the kind of pen pal he wants to have, then get lost. Are you female? Its just strange a male would react that way with a female. I dunno. I dont care for his tone one bit. I wrote prison pen pals to make friends and play nice and learn about each other. Not to be accused of possible insanity. He's too paranoid for my taste.

I noticed this thread was from quite a while ago - I am wondering what happened - are they still writing to each other? It would be interesting to find out!

I frequently have new pals write, in their first letter to me, things like that. They've gotten letters from kooks before and are tired of it. I've gotten letters saying things like, "I ain't with the gay s**t so if you're a fag don't bother writing back."

One of my pp's (female) said she gets a lot of letters from men detailing crude things they want to do to her, or her do to them, as well as other craziness. After ignoring all those she had just a handful of decent people to write back to. So yeah, I think they do get a lot of crazies. That being said my response would be "? Yeah! Thats why i picked you, I thought you were crazy too!! If you're not, stop writing me!" Then I'd carry on and if things continued then cool, if not, that'd be cool to.

I've told dudes, in response to what I mentioned above, that if I was gay I'd have a man out here (a rich one!) and therefore probably would not be allowed to write to prisoners.

It seems to me a fair amount of straight men write male prison inmates. For one thing there are a lot more men in prison than women so its just a larger pool to choose from. I dont know that all straight male inmates are receptive to it but if they arent, its most likely just because they are looking for a female to take it in the romance direction anyway. No big deal.
