I was wondering if anyone out there knew why an inmate would not know their exact release date the month that person is to be released. (This would be for Maryland)

Yes, I wondered this also! I have a very good friend, HIS son is getting out in January BUT the problem is, he doesn't know the day or us --- we would like to plan a party for him coming home!

Is this the last thing they can do to torture a prisoner with? Knowing he is out somewhere within the next 20 days but won't tell him his lucky number?

Maybe it depends on the paperwork??? I don't know. I don't think the prison system is exactly know for it's expediency or efficiency. Everything happens very slowly in there. It's a whole process. And of course, they don't really care about anyone's feelings.

The reason for this is inmates may have 'good time' or other factors making them elidgeable for early release and in my pal's case in Arizona he knew just a few months prior to his release the exact date, however, he knew the month for sometime.

He knew months in advance his exact release date? If so, then thats terrible for someone who is getting out in less than 20 days who has NO idea what the exact day is going to be...

He knew in 03 that he would be released in 05.

In Feb of 05 he knew he would be released by Sept. At that time he and his family were making arrangements for his release.

In June or July, can't recall which now, he knew his exact date.

I am sorry, I am on a wifi connection and it keeps droping me, so I didn't read the whole thread lol.

He should of already been given an exact release date. In the experiences I have shared with my pals they all had adequate time to prepare for release.

Do you think I should call the prison? Would they tell me his date? Its this month but no day has been told to him..

What do you think Skye? Do they already know you think?
