Why are some inmate members of writeaprisoner listed over and over again as "newest members". Shouldn't they just be highlighted once as newest?

Not quite sure what you mean. They are listed newest to "oldest" newest, but not over & over again.

I don't think that they get listed over and over again, I think that they just stay on the list for quite a while. I can't say how long, because it has been a long time since I went clear to the bottom. But, they will come off eventually, I'm sure. They also go on the permanent lists automatically, so that they don't get overlooked in the shuffle.

I'll try to clarify. When a new member is listed their name appears in red letters. Clicking on their name changes the letters to blue. But...the next time I come back to see latest "newest members" the names I already clicked on are red again. So I end up reading about the same persons again. Shouldn't "newest members" be listed in red only once instead of repeatedly? After I click on a newest member shouldn't that member's name then be blue from then on? If not, what is the point of having blue and red listings?

They remain listed as new members for a period of time maybe several weeks, for your computer to recognise members who you have viewed personally would involve all adverts to have an idividual cookie which would register on your computer.
