First off--hi to all the members here. I have only had a pp for a few weeks so far, and something interesting has come up. In my second letter to my pp, I sent a regular 4" X 6" photo--not of me, but of a mutual interest (a car). She wrote back, said she liked the pic--and seemed pretty pleased. Then--she asked if I wanted her to send the pic back to me. I had never even considered having it sent back--so this took me a little by surprise. Is it considered usual for a pp to return a photo?? Or--is she just being overly cautious and trying to make sure I am not getting an impression of being used? I realize that nobody but she knows exactly why she felt the need to suggest sending it back, but thoughts are welcomed---

Maybe based on what you may have said about the car, she may have thought you would want the picture back. There could be any number of reasons. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I agree. And maybe she was just trying to be respectful of you. I'm sure her intentions were negative.

LOL !!! and I thought "negative" was just being a bad pu---

I don't find it unusual, just because when I first started sending pics to my first pp, he would always send them back, and I had to say, "umm...you know, you CAN keep these..."
lol...he was like "Really?? Oh! Awesome!!"
He said that some of his other pp's had asked for certain photos to be returned, so he just assumed I did too!

I think its also cause some of them has a hard time getting copies of photos of their own. I had a pal who sent me pics but wanted them back cause it was the only one he had. Maybe some think that its as hard for us to get copies. I dont know I am tired lol sending myself to bed now cause I dont make any sense

I am not really sure why she would ask if you wanted it back. Sometimes they are limited to the numbers of things they can keep...so that may have something to do with it. Like they are only allowd to have ten or fifteen or whatever number of photos in their posession at any given time.
For ages my Pen Pal kept sending me her trust fund print out so I would know that she was not getting money from anyone else...even though I asked her repeatedly not to because it was none of my business how much money she had. Finally I really had to put my foot down on it...now I don't get them anymore.
They get into some pretty strange habits in prison...some are for good reasons...others not. Early on when I was writing her she asked if I wanted nude pictures of her...becasue she had a friend on the 'outside' that had some and she would have them sent to me. When I asked why on earth she thought I would want to see her naked she replied..."well most guys ask eventually". Go figure????
I just don't worry about it anymore.
Just my thoughts.

my pal and I send pictures that we are always asking to have sent back to us. It's just that well I am lazy and couldn't be bothered getting a copy done but may want him to see a pic that I have that reminded me of something we may have been discussing in letters. I am always pestering him for pics and he obviously can't get copies himself so he sends them for me to see and I send them back. Photo's are precious to inmates - maybe she thinks photo's are just as precious to you???
