I have a question I work for in a very stressful job with unfair work practices . I have been there 3 years and everyday it gets worst and worst for me mentally. It's sunday morning and I am already feeling the tension building. I know a few of you are older and me and I wanted to know what should i do. Of course I need the money but I also need my sanity too. I drive a hour to and from work no growth protential, they pay favorites, I could just scream right now. Help me please

I know this is an obivious solution, but why not look for and find a job/career in a field that will allow you to keep your sanity and pay the bills too. If I were at a job that didn't allow growth, and I was stressed out over doing it, then I would certainly seek out one that I was comfortable with, even if it meant going back to school and furthering my education to aquire the mental tools/knowledge to do so...a vast amount of happiness in one's life comes from having a job they enjoy...just my thoughts

I know this might sound stupid, but if you can't change your job in a hurry what you can change is you attitude to your job. Often we can't change things that happen to us, but what we can change is the way we process those things. Stay positive, hope your days get brighter.

Plastercat has given you sound advise. Sometimes our attitude has a lot to do with job satisfaction. As Dyer has reminded us, "The way we look at things changes the way they look." It is rare that someone is totally satisfied with their job, and over time the most inspiring job can become mundane and boring. Why not look for another job while still working so that your needs are met. Your feelings now will eventually affect your physical health as it has already affected your mental outlook.

Thanks guys for the advise and I have been looking off and on. And I have started going to church to help open up and relieve my stress. I have to problems one is that I have a heart condition that needs to get corrected in the near future and the other is that I can't afford to just up and quit. I have to tell you that I am not the only one experiencing this situation with the stress and anger.

hi I hope you are OK to get your heart codition sorted out, we are fortunate over here to have a free health servicde. Definately move to another job although it may be wise to wait until your heart is sorted so a new employer won't frown upon you having time off. Mind you though if you advise prospective employers they can make their own choice.
You only live once no point living a miserable life if you can do something about it.
