Does time remaining affect you writing
Hi all
I am here on and off and did start my pal writing journey on this cool site.. I wonder something and thought I would ask. Does the time remaining on the sentence influence if you will write or not.. my bro in law who I just put an ad up on WAP for .. he is new member Paul Fox in Florida.. but he has a long time left and I have often tried to find him pals but the long term he has left causes some to back off ,.... soo I am curious as in his case he is not a death row, not a lifer but just a long long sentence for a decent man.. thanks for listening to my ramble.. arriana

well i prefer a longer sentence, just a personal choice. when looking at the ads i intentionally seek out those with longer sentences, so yes it influences me to write

thats a good question, i have found that those with longer terms are easier to get to know, you have the luxury of time so to speak, to let things move at natural pace, i have had the greatest success getting to know those with 4 or more years left. Perhaps cos im australian perhaps its just me but i wouldnt write to any one with 2 years or less, the mail takes along time to travel back and forward i need a man with patience

I would think that people who are seeking a pp are looking for someone with a longer sentence, this way it's a long term friendship rather than a short one. I'm curious to know how many pp's keep up their letter writing when they get out?... I chose pp's with a 5 yr sentence or longer... I just sorta figured they needed me more...

I don't think time should have much to do with it. I don't write anybody else but my husband, but we met each other through this site.
It is more important if you have things in common that you can discuss with each other. Cause why would someone write to a pal, that has a 10 year sentence left, if there is nothing to discuss?

I appreciate everyone's opinions.. see I confess I never even looked at that way back when..not sure why but I did not.. but it is interseting to read the comments as each of you make good points.. I agree that you need a common interest ..

Just bumping up for more thoughts on this... as I am quite curious
and many were away for the holiday weekend in the usa

arriana - has your BIL received any interest?

Hi fakeplastictears
the ad is just newly posted... so it hasnt been enough time to know
I hope so he is a good person who would make a good friend

The time left on my pp's sentence did not influence me personally as to rather i would write him or not because he had so much to do. Currently he is serving a 23 year sentence, is has done 5yrs already and has 18 more to go. He is only 23 years old, so he will be 41 years old when he is released. My reason for chosing him was because of the chemistry in our writing only
