My pen pal in CA (Corcoran) sent me a visitng application. Does anyone know how long it will take till approval because he may be transferred he tells me so does that mean I will have to fill out another application if and when he is transferred?

I don't know about that particular prison, but I do know that where I visit, (Tennessee) you have to wait thiry days to be approved for visitation.

As for having to be approved again once he's moved, I think that depends on where he's moved to. If he remains within the same state, I wouldn't think they'd have to approve you all over again. However, if he's shipped out of state, their rules might differ and you'd have to go through the process again. But normally once you're approved, you're done with it.

It took 2 weeks after my boyfriend put my name on the list before it was posted.

In New York State Prisons you can just go and visit... there is no approval list or applications. However, there is waiting list when the inmate wants to add your name and number to his calling list.. thats kinda crazy right?? Just figured i'd share.

In Calif. they say to allow 4-6 weeks. Often times is sooner though. And if he is transfered you do not have to fill it out again. Only an update occasionally(suppose to be every 12 months).His visiting list follows him. Hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions please feel free to email me.
