I do know that emails sent take a while to get to the place they are going b/c they are only sent like once a month or so....i hope i'm right....lol
It sounds like you sent the e-mails to the same person? According to the WAP rules they will only forward your first e-mail to the prisoner. As for the time, it says they are printed off and sent every 2 weeks. I hope this helps!
Hi I did send the emails to the same person a month apart and 3 months on he hasn't got yet! I have sent an email to WAP now as it concerns me this service isn't free for inmates so they should expect the full service
I found that the emails took upwards of a month to get to the recipient.
You know this might not have anything directly to do with this post, but I printed off a copy of my pp's mugshot/rap sheet(for lack of better words)Anyway, it was the page that was on this site with his pic. I pinned it up on the wall in my computer room. As we started getting to know each other I told him about his pic on my wall. He said, "Wow, you have my picture on your wall? I'm flattered!" (only I could have a murderer afraid of me for stalking him, lol just joking) Anyway,to give him a chuckle, I sent him the pic I had on my wall. When he wrote me back he said that they wouldn't give him his own picture/rap sheet. They did give him the letter, though. He is in Pontiac Illinois & he thinks that this is the only prison to do this. Weird huh?
As a courtesy, WAP will 'snail-mail' your FIRST email to the inmate, but will not forward additional emails to the same inmate. It is ALWAYS recommended that you write the inmate DIRECTLY for best results.
WAP prints out all 'first-contact' emails every 2 weeks and mails them out. The Webmasters cannot be responsible for the time that it takes for the email to reach the inmate, or whether the correspondence is intercepted or lost. WAP also has no way to verify whether or not the inmate actually received the forwarded email.
When the inmate purchases an ad, they are NOT purchasing any RIGHTS to have email messages forwarded. That is not part of the agreement in placing the inmate's ad. Mailing the email correspondence is a courtesy offered by Write A Prisoner.com for visitors to the site, at WAP's own expense.
The cost of the ad is calculated to defray the expense of maintaining the Website, as well as covering the costs of activities in helping to preserve and/or secure inmate's rights through activism and legal recourse. This is not to mean that WAP has any type of direct involvement in the legal representation of any individual inmate.
Hello Law Dog
I have been reading and following the progress folks make in their attempts to provide correspondence to those who are in need.
Some time back you classified this site as a business. I assume a business for profit.
You mention the Inmates do not "PURCHASE" a "RIGHT" to have mail forwarded. Since their rights have been taken away altready I guess that would be true.
I would be interested in knowing how the profit after web expenses is utilized in "Activism" and "Inmates Rights"!
I am also wondering how the free Write an Inmate web sites stay afloat without any charges for their service?
Good to see things seem to have calmed down and the folks are back to normal! Peace
I would have to defer your inquiry to the OWNERS of this website.
You can email them directly at:
contact@writeaprisoner.com
please also remember that many times emails from sites forwarded are rejected by prison mail rooms ... so that also can reflect why they do not get there and tho mailrooms technically will not say that they reject them, they do.. LOL.. there are two sets of rules the written ones, and the unwritten ones
