Thread: Another "new" person

    Default Another "new" person

I have just recently started to write someone. Boy snail mail can be frustrating. I was wondering if there is any signs or suggestions I can look for to tell if they are being honest or sincere. I know this has been asked a hundred times before. I just don't want to waste my or her time on something that is going nowhere. I am a very honest and open person. I just want to be sure that it is being returned. I would hate to find out that I have just been recieving "form " letters. Thanks all.

Yep. Your best clue is "gut instinct." If something doesn't feel right or makes you uncomfortable, be wary.
I don't think that you can be hurt unless you let them do it. For one thing, I wouldn't send any money until you have written to a PP, for a while, and gotten comfortable with them.
One of my first PPs asked me for $20, in her first letter, so she could get photos taken (I did get a photo :-). I sent it to her, thinking, "What the heck?", $20 isn't going to hurt me. In her second letter she needed $100 for medical treatment. In her third letter I was a jerk because I told her I wasn't writing any more (I didn't send her the $100, by the way :-). It is her loss, because I would have been more than willing to help her out. But she wanted too much too soon and it didn't sound right. "Don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg."
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly.
Cowards are cruel, but the brave love mercy.

    Welcome ~
Yes, I agree with everone here... go with your gut instinct. I have written to 3 pp's & so far have heard from 2 of them. One asked a lot of quetions about me...so, I am leary of this one. The other seemed very very sincere. Neither asked for any money or anything like that. I'm just waiting for my second letter from them... probably won't be till next week ( Good Luck to you!

I dont think the one asking alot of questions is a bad thing... I guess depending on the questions he has asked. I know i'm a big time question asker and i ask my pals all kinds of questions.....hehe They dont mind and i've very open and honest and will answer any question they have within reason of course. I've been lucky though and i've never had a pal cross the line with me!!

I don't have much to ad here. I agree with others, just go with your gut feeling and be careful about giving money or anything ex.stamps. I also want to say welcome!! I hope you find some great pp's.
