    Default ANGELMUM, YOU WILL BE MY RUIN

    My son now fears that along with writing letters I have found a group of friends that I will only spend more time on the PC.
    Says the worst thing he ever did was to give me a computer that takes me off into another world. It is hard sometimes to believe just how much time I spend on here.
    Know that one of the things that all of like to do is make our letters fun and cheer up the pal we write. There are lots of programs out there that you can install on the computer that will do all sorts of things. I can make cards, photos, include funny faces and emotions in the body of the letter, plus when there is a need to send information can print it out as if in the body of the letter. The best program is the one that will print different backgrounds, so that given the time of year or holiday I can make the simple piece of paper look quite smart. There is also a program available through the post office to save you from going to it to get stamps.
    Also if any of you buy books, many of the retail stores of big companies have remainders, they cut cover off and if you make friends with someone at store they will send groups of these to your pen pals, same goes for magazines. Bit old but is still better than the material offered in most prison libraries.

    AngelMum, you make me want to stand up and sing OH CANADA hahaha your post was very cheeky, bet you read fillers in daily newspapers as well. smile. What can I say, if Roland was not such a good son I would have given up ages ago. Must tell you that your post touched me so deeply I did something I had not done in ages, I reminded my son that I loved him deeply and that he was my rock and that while we were less a few in family I still had him.
    In business I was considered one tough cookie but I think you have exclusive right to the title. I am so proud of what you are and I bloody well do not even know you.
    However my post come out, you have the nack for the off the wall curve that is most interesting to read.
    Did you see post about letter writing?? Bit high brow but I thought it would show the power of a letter.
    This weekend we have a chore ahead of us, two of the pen pals are scheduled for a visit, both in a part of California that allows us to see one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
    Bit easy for me I just throw on an Hawaiian shirt, shorts, sandles and brush what little hair I have left. smile.
    Some time back I took my two boys on train across Canada, lord it was a long time ago as I hear it is not possible to do the same trip anymore.
    Will see if I can come back with a story for you, from the visits this weekend.

    {Hugs Rob}

    You cherish that boy through his good & bad moments.

    There's so much discussion about what the state, country & prisons have as a responsibility to our inmates, and I agree on some levels.

    However, what really happens is we ask this great country of ours to "fix-up" these troubled humans once they've crossed into "no man's land" when the real responsibility belongs back with their family where the necessary lessons should have been modeled & taught.

    Fact: The years up to age 5 are the most CRITICAL years in the proper social & emotional development of children that they carry for the rest of their lives.

    This is something we know NOW. I'd bet that even in the light of this information 15-20 years from now the vast majority of the children that are 0-5 years now will still be in the same boat (if not worse) as our PP friends are.

    Until we start to change today, there is little to expect from the future.
