Bob Barker Enterprizes
If you get sick and go to medical, they take out 3.00 , if you have to see the Doctor, they take out 5.00, if you get a write-up, they'll take 10.00, if your rights have been violated and you file a law-suit, that will cost you 150.00. They have a prison service now that will assist you, from the D.O.C., no less.He said it well when he explained it to be a Crock-o-shzit. The good old days are gone. Later.

kenny, one of my pen-pals in California wrote me today that he injured his hand, but was not going to the doctor because it cost $5.00. I think that is crazy! I had no idea they could charge the prisoners for medical care...

Bob Barker (not related to the "Bob Barker" of "The Price is Right" fame) has nothing to do with medical services or court actions in the prison system. They are a supplier of products that are used in prisons....period.
Charges for medical services are established by the Department of Corrections in the particular State, pursuant to State law. The cost of filing a suit, since most are done through Federal Court as a civil rights violation, is set by the COURT, as a filing fee.
Inmates who file suit in Federal Court, as they have a right to do, can obtain an "affidavit en pauperis" to claim they cannot afford the filing fee. Most are then waived. The DOC has nothing to do with Court fees.
Bob Barker, Inc. (not Enterprises) is a supplier of "security conscious" prison products, from toothbrushes and hygiene items, to food products and communication equipment used in institutions. They have nothing to do with medical care or the courts.

I really wasn't linking the two, only in Humor. Yes, bigdog, it is horrible, but I do believe they pay more than the customary 85 cents a day now. Later, you two take care.

this to me sees like the proverbal vicious circle .. you are forcd to use one source of medical care while in prison yet you must pay despite your choice. I am very fortunate to live in canada where we have free medical care and our prisoners get that as well, actually doing research I found that a person who is goign through a gender change operation who is put in prison has the right to have the opertion continued at the cost of the government .. but this situation for these prisoners seem so unjust as with some states that prohibit prisoners working how are they expected to pay for medical care? if they have no friends or family to pay for this are they only treated in emergency situations? that is barbaric/
one of my penpals broke his hand in prison and since it did not set properly he can not use it well .. so sad
